Who We Are
We are The Life Wells Foundation (LWF).
LWF is a Non-Profit humanitarian organization established in the United States of America. Our objective is to bring clean and safe water to villages in Ethiopia and ultimately to other parts of Africa with your help.
Our Mission
To improve the lives of all Ethiopians by bringing safe, clean water sources to remote villages.
Who we serve
Our project will begin in underserved and remote villages in Ethiopia where clean and potable water is not easily accessible. The Life Wells Foundation is committed to serving all people, regardless of religion, race, color, ethnicity, or gender .
Why we serve
The organization’s founder, Yaregal Gebreyesus, is passionate about helping people in need. As a child growing up in Ethiopia he witnessed how essential water is to life and how much of a struggle life can be without easy, reliable access to this precious resource.
Why Water
Life is harsh when water is scarce. Hygiene and basic sanitation practices suffer and preventable diseases spread easily.
In Ethiopia and other parts of Africa, water scarcity tears the very fabric of society. Women and children are forced to walk long distances each day searching for water to bring back to their communities. The water they find is often dirty and must be carried on the heads and backs of the bearers. Time spent searching for and transporting water is time that could be spent cooking, caring for children and elders, attending school, or working on other tasks within and outside of the village.
How to achieve LWF’s Goal:
Drilling wells. Drilling for water and creating community-based wells is the one of the best methods to help villages create local, secure, and safe access to clean water sources.
Collaborate with experts in the field. We will tap into expert knowledge on drilling, maintaining, and designing optimal wells; building solar energy and wind turbines; teaching environment stewardship, planning, health and hygiene, and sustainable farming practices.
Community Empowerment. Our teams will train indigenous members of the communities we serve to assist with the creation and maintenance of new wells and to help build community projects as our work expands.
Financial Accountability
Initially, funds raised will be used to drill wells and train staff. We are committed to financial transparency and we will carefully monitor and review program costs to ensure budgets are spent efficiently for the greatest good of the communities.

The founder of the Life Wells Foundation has earned the trust of many Ethiopians he has worked with and supported, while contributing too many of his volunteer works during his stay in the United States. With all that the foundation receive and help it can get, the foundation will be able to be part of breaking the cycle of poverty and providing clean water for those in need in Ethiopia and ultimately in Africa.
